If you can't be bothered with all this, and just want to listen to the tracks go here instead.
To listen to a track choose one from the list on the right (or bottom depending on your device), this will add the record to the deck. For your convenience the deck is already switched on (you're welcome), if it's not already on, click the on switch above the start/stop button. Push the start button and let the wheel spin. If you're one of the cool kids and have a decent machine you can scratch the record, change the pitch and switch between 33 and 45 RPM.
(Note that scratch and pitch bending are only available in "scratch mode". Scratch mode is highly experimental and requires a fair bit of CPU, oh and if you're looking at this on one of the special ones; iPad/iPhone, forget scratch mode, it requires flash)
Scratching and precision Once you grab the record, the mouse can move anywhere within the screen without losing position. The closer to the outside of the record, the smoother the mouse movement and scratching effects are.
Record backspin Grab the record with the mouse and throw it forward or backward for a spin effect. During a backspin, the record will take slightly longer to catch up when it is near zero-velocity.
Pausing the record If you click and release without moving the mouse, the record will simply pause.
Chavo is a London based band, initially formed as a Balkan recital outfit playing acoustic music to seated audiences. Very quickly the audiences began to stand up and the show times moved from 3pm to 3am. Sweating it out on the oom-pah music circuit became the norm, and after many years Chavo felt a desire for change. They waved goodbye to the traditional material (often sung in Roma or Serbian) and crafted an album of original songs in their home tongue - English. A change in line up and instrumentation also followed as they caught up with the technology of the 1970’s.
What appears to have distilled from this epic journey is both imaginative and intriguing. A percussion heavy, mandolin infused, vintage keys indie band with seductive female bv’s, pounding bass lines, 4-floor dance rhythms and harmonic discord - a firm footing in the west with a nod to the east.
